An international-scale project

This ambitious project is part of the Resilient Water Solutions Against Climate Change program, co-managed by UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), the Lebanese Ministry of Environment, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and UNICEF, with financial support from the Adaptation Fund.

In collaboration with MORES (Lebanon) and the Bureau of Habib Debs, setec organisation is working to develop concrete and innovative solutions to address climate change challenges.

Project objectives

The project aims to achieve several key objectives:

  • Development of a climate-resilient strategic plan: This plan focuses on the sustainable management of water resources and biodiversity protection to address water scarcity and climate impacts.
  • Creation of territorial planning scenarios: These scenarios integrate resilience solutions to support agriculture, tourism, and local communities.
  • Strengthening local institutional capacities: Establishing an urban observatory, a knowledge management platform, and a training program aims to enhance municipalities’ response to climate change.
  • Promoting an inclusive and participatory approach: Incorporating gender issues and local governance ensures sustainable and equitable resilience.
