Elaboration of a Regional Plan and six Local Plans for the development of the region

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the Development Authorities Support Center (DASC) and the Jazan Development Strategic Office (JSO), has nominated in 2023 the consortium led by Setec, and the subconsultants Institut Paris Region and Beyond Group, to carry out the Regional Plan and 6 Local Plans for its main governorates. This mission, lasting 14 months, will provide new regional authorities with up-to-date regional and local spatial databases, as well as new plans that align with existing and new strategies.

Jazan, the Saudi Arabian pearl of the south, stretching over more than 300 kilometers along the tip of Saudi’s Red Sea coast, has all the prerequisites for establishing a flourishing province due to its wealth of culture and nature. Its diverse and rich landscapes, including sturdy mountain peaks, green forests, alabaster beaches, and azure seas, makes the region a hotspot for locals and tourists alike.

Achieving a balance in population distribution and exploitation of development capabilities and resources necessitates a comprehensive view of the various components of development at the regional and local level (society and human systems, economy, environment, urbanism, utilities…).

Jazan Regional and Local Plans together form a multiscale integrated planning project. It connects three planning scales: regional, local (at the governorate scale), and urban (with a focus on key urban areas in each of the subject governorate).
