Elaboration of a strategic development plan for Zahle District

Our mission takes place in the context of the Resilient Water Solutions Against Climate Change in Jordan and Lebanon programme, which is supervized by UN-Habitat, the Lebanese Ministry of Environment, UN-ESCWA, and UNICEF, funded by the Adaptation Fund for a total budget of 14 Million US$

The program aims at empowering local authorities and enhance the livelihood and resilience of local communities (including displaced people and refugees) in the face of the climate change-induced water scarcity.

Our missions

  • Elaboration of a strategic development plan for the District of Zahle (Lebanon)
    • Safeguard of natural resources (water, biodiversity)
    • climate change adaptation and resilience
    • Limited use of natural land
    • Protect and improve sustainable economic activities (agriculture, tourism…)
  • Translation of the regional strategy to 8 local plans (municipal level)
  • Design and implementation of an urban observatory, a knowledge sharing platform, and a capacity building and training programme to empower local authorities.
