Our mission takes place in the context of the Resilient Water Solutions Against Climate Change in Jordan and Lebanon programme, which is supervized by UN-Habitat, the Lebanese Ministry of Environment, UN-ESCWA, and UNICEF, funded by the Adaptation Fund for a total budget of 14 Million US$
The program aims at empowering local authorities and enhance the livelihood and resilience of local communities (including displaced people and refugees) in the face of the climate change-induced water scarcity.
Our missions
- Elaboration of a strategic development plan for the District of Zahle (Lebanon)
- Safeguard of natural resources (water, biodiversity)
- climate change adaptation and resilience
- Limited use of natural land
- Protect and improve sustainable economic activities (agriculture, tourism…)
- Translation of the regional strategy to 8 local plans (municipal level)
- Design and implementation of an urban observatory, a knowledge sharing platform, and a capacity building and training programme to empower local authorities.
